Jan 7, 2010 Tractor work.

The five inches of snow fell from Wednesday noon until late night and we woke up to a winter wonderland.  Yep, we were wondering when we would be able to get up to the top of the hill!!   I finally got the tractor started --had to charge the battery, as I left the switch on while repairing the lift mechanism, yesterday!!

The snow moved fairly easily with the blade behind the Ferguson.  Did do a "louie" on the main road blacktop.  I normally blade fast to the road and then lift the blade and turn around on the Hiway Y blacktop.  This time the road looked clear, but there was a sheet of ice on it and as I attempted a sharp turn to get back to the lane, I slid into the ditch on the other side of the hiway.  I was able to back down further into the ditch and get a "running" start at the blacktop and made it back to our road.  Enough excitement for this old guy for the day.  Did have to warm up twice, as the 10 degree temperature was not very friendly!!  So far the cove is staying clear with both of Cliff and Kathy's deicers running.  I think Ron Liebler still has Jay's running, too.

A nice treat as I was warming my tootsies -- 4 eagles flew around the cove for about 15 minutes.  Also spotted a lonely turkey on Sabre -- they normally are in a group of 10 - 20.

Stay warm for the next few days.  We might see 30 on Monday - yep, I've got my fingers crossed.
