Heritage Homes Tour

We toured Heritage Homes as part of the 50th Reunion activities. Also did the Hi School, but only the shop area remains as it once was. Had a good time.

Judy K remembers riding to school with the founder and owner of Heritage. He had a pink car called the pink bubble bath. Guys giving the tour were going to get some "mileage" out of that story!!

It's 52 degrees here this morning and already there is a WATERSKIER!! Yes, he does have a wet suit on!!! Big races are at the end of the cove today. Sounded like jet engines practicing yesterday and I'm sure they will be as loud today.

50th High School Reunion

We did it. Finally got the 50th Reunion of the High Schools completed. Hi had 16 class members out of 38 remaining (52 originally) and Hahn had 2 out of 14 (16 originally). One surviving spouse and one teacher(Mr Jones)and wife were our guests. 33 people mingled from 6:30 to 11pm at the Vets Club with a 50's decor and yellow and blue table coverings with vases of mums from Phyllis's garden.

Ron was the only one with his original letter sweater!! The royal blue had converted to purple over the years.

Korbyn is here!!!!!!!

I've stolen the picture from GRANDMA Kim's blog!! Just didn't want anyone to miss an early shot of the gorgeous little girl. Congrats Ali and Sam.

A visit from the king of birds

Last week as I was frantically trying to finalize the 50th reunion booklet, a neighbor called and excitedly told us about the eagle perched across the cove in a tree this side of Ed and Barb's house. I grabbed the camera and snuck out the door but had to get to Cliff and Cathy's dock before I could get the photo. Sorry about the grainy look, but the light was poor back where he/she was sitting in the tree. I think this is the first time we have been visited in the summer time by the grand old bird. The realtors showing Cliff and Cathy's house says there are one or two on the Gravois Arm during the summer. Looks like this one tried to get a peek at the coves off the main channel.

Joslyn Art Museum, 2200 Dodge, Omaha NE

What a neat place. I had been here in 1963 while I was practice teaching at Central High which is the building to the left behind the horse statue. When I was there, the Heisman Trophy awarded to Gale Sayers was on the desk of the principal, as Gale had graduated from Central. Carol is in the foreground of the courtyard cafe which has a huge glass sculpture hanging from the ceiling. The main galleries are filled with famous artists' works, many of which even Ron recognized!! The contemporary galleries reminded us of a lot of the art we saw at Inhotim while we were in Brasil visiting Sara and crew.

Guys and Dogs

The fire was hot and the dogs were "barking". They really tasted good and were cooled off with the ice Cream CAKE. AAAAHHHHHH

As I posted this and was noticing the "guys" around the fire, I asked myself a question, "Have there been any female arsonists? Maybe just when they are supporting some cause??"

Since it is 9-11 I wonder if only women were allowed to govern and preach would the world be a more passionate environment or would women become more aggressive??

Must get back to 50th Reunion booklet. Only 5 days left before it goes to the copy making place.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALI SEPT 8

Sam was having sympathy feelings!! The swing was a gift from Kim and Shannon. Should be a good item to rock someone to sleep. Yes, Sam I mean YOU!!

Labor Day Weekend at the Lake

We had to park "our boats" out in the cove, as they won't fit in the dock!! The little one in the back is the reserve boat in case the bigger one doesn't start!!

We've had a couple of inches of rain for the start of the weekend. Not a good deal for the sweet corn festival and the several flea markets that have popped up to lure in the large tourist and condo crowds. Only got about half the cars at Waste Watchers on Sat morn due to the rain.

Hope you all are enjoying the long weekend.

Bob and Pat Aug 31 to Sept 2, 2009

Well, RATS, we forgot to take even ONE picture with them this year!! We did keep busy eating, reading, watching the lake and FINALLY some of the birds. This morning after waking up to a orangish pink eerie sky and seeing a rainbow in the south west reflected in the placid lake surface, the birds and hummers were FRANTIC in the trees and flowers outside the dining room windows. Even had a great blue heron walk up the boat dock ramp to the concrete landing and then turn towards Nevilles and walk out of our line of sight. Cardinals, Baltimore? oriole, phoebes, wrens and others were flitting about the trees as if it was their last meal!! The clouds to the southwest may have been the cause, as a rainstorm had moved from KC area southeastward to Springfield during early morning hours.

On Tuesday about 1pm while Carol was in aquatic PT, Bob, Pat and Ron rode in their bright red Prius to the ReStore south of Camdenton only to find its hours are 9-1 on Tu, Th and Sat. We then went to Bridle Cave and took the drippy wet tour of this very ALIVE cave. Home at 4pm which didn't leave time to visit a winery.

Today we went to Eldon to mail things to Eric (Kelly's keys that Carol had borrowed and left in the bowels of her purse!!) and documents to Sara for a potential trip. Also did a couple of errands for Kathy Neville. Cliff has recently been diagnosed with beginning Alzheimers which was detected after we think he had a mild stroke. He is NOT the alert, jovial individual we have known for the last 25 years.

This afternoon we headed for Buffalo Creek Winery by Stover and ended up at Great Bear Winery. Tasted and bought some wine and then went to Stover to a small coffee and sandwich shop and had a pleasant, late lunch before we wished Bob and Pat good travels back to KC.
