First Waste Watcher Recycle talk by Ron on July 16, 2010

It doesn't show up very good, as the backlighting from the window almost wiped out the picture.  That is "myself" with a WW cap and apron just about ready to give about an hours presentation to a group of 23 ladies.  The meeting was at  Mallard Point Resort at about the 8 MM on the Lake of the Ozarks.  Yep, I was a little nervous, but the group was very friendly and had lots of good questions.  My talk without interuption would have taken 25-30 minutes.

Kathy WAS here on the 4th

Found these shots on Grandma Carol's camera.  Kathy is watching "my" fishing pole, as I am over 65 and the only legal fisherman on the dock.  Jason has his back to us and Eric is hiding behind the life preserver.

Eric is having a libation in celebration of the 4th - note the FLAG.  Flowers are pretty good, too.
Cliff's flagpole had stuck with the flag up about half way, so the combined heads of (left to right) Cliff, Eric, Jason - yellow hat, and Ron were able to lift the three upper sections off of the bottom section and rescue Old Glory.  We are figuring out how to reassemble until a new locking mechanism can be ordered and installed.

Korbyn at Kristi's

Hi Guys!!  Grandma Carol did a great job getting this picture.

Lee's 15th Birthday Party

They frolicked in the pool.  The sides are about 3 feet high so you can see how tall Lee with the pink "noodle" has grown.  Cliff , a good friend, is the brown hair to the left.

Lee was still willing to blow out the candles.  I used mom's camera and it is so slow on flash that I just got some light smoke leaving the cake.  Hope Kristi's shot was better.  Yes, that is the "little" neighbor kid who lives off to the right and in back of "mom and dad's" old place.  Ayden and Ava sang and clapped with us as we sang at least 3 times while Kristi was trying to get the candles lit.

A "group" shot which got a BAD reflection right into Kristi's head from her glassed dish cabinet in the background.  Sorry, but the SD card was full and I couldn't get any more shots.  Korbyn is being held by Erin.  Patty's yellow shirt and Gary's black one are to the left.  Grandma Carol is in the purple.

Some flowers and plants

So the title for the above picture would be "bee on the bee balm"!!  Rather ratty looking bee balm.  Gusess I should have been out earlier getting a photo.
The coleus are really doing nicely with all the rain.  This shot has several of the varieties that we planted this spring.

The pink and white phlox have really done themselves proud.  We enjoy them every time we walk out on the lake side deck.
Some sunny flowers with a little bee.  These are just outside the sliding door on the lake side entrance.

I should have taken pictures of myself yesterday, as I was at Waste Watchers from 9:45 til 4:15 and it was HOOTTT!!  I was dripping with sweat and had a red bandana soaked with water on my head with a green cap covering it.  Must have looked like some sort of derelict from the desert!!  Hope it cools off before Saturday.  Won't be as bad cause we only work 9-noon.

Luke Swimming at the Thackers

Luke swims good!!  He has lots of energy and definite views on his surroundings.  This picture was taken by sis while they watched the young revelers frolic in the backyard pool.  Yes, Eric and Kelly they are within the zoning requirements of Rocky Mount!!!  For those of you who don't know the story, Eric's neighbor in Maryland thru a hissy fit when they put up a similar above ground pool during the dog days of August last year.  According to by-laws of their housing development, only in-ground pools are allowed.  The "fuss" resulted in the disappearance of 8 or 9 other pools in the neighborhood.  You are right, they don't have much respect for that neighbor!!

Cowboys of Rocky Mount

The knoll became a roping practice arena this morning.  Jason can do it from a galloping horse and a running steer, but this was much more practical for our limited space, and oh yes, we don't have a horse or a steer!!  Luke and Eric are watching and waiting for their turn.  I think they were also hoping that the wave runner in the background would find it's way into the lake for a quick ride.  Sorry guys but that belongs to Vince, the guy renting the little house.  We are going swimming for a while this afternoon and then will head for Shelby and Kristi's for BBQ and lots of food and fireworks.

The Batchelors

We had a great visit with Bob and Gail in early July.  They had been at Park College for reunion and stopped at our house before heading south to Orange, TX.  Gail has "promised" to send me the group photo when they get home.  Bob had brought along his black powder rifle so we made some early "4th of July" noise in the cathedral.  We hit the target every time, but not the bulls eye!!  Hope you got the barrel cleaned by now, Bob??

Fishing Guys

Luke (6) and Jason (Eric's age) did some serious fishing in late afternoon and caught 3 catfish and 2 bluegill.  We had soaked in the lake for about 3 hours during the afternoon.  They arrived about 12:30 in Jason and Kathy's big black dually pickup.  Eric had driven from Denver in a rental car and arrived in Bonner Springs about 7am.

Weather was perfect.  Boats churned up the lake and made "body surfing" interesting.  Jason caught a little too much sun but I think that Eric, Kathy and I escaped unsinged.  We all tried to keep hydrated AND we succeeded.
