April Flowers 4/21/11

Our newest orchid bought at the Lake Bloomers Garden Club last week at Greenview, MO.  Ron gave a talk on recycling and the orchid grower followed with a short orchid discussion.  The lady called it a "pansy" orchid.

This is a "lonely" patch of white ajuga.  We found it for the first time this spring.

Taller spikes of blossoms.

The normal ajuga flowers which are incredible this year.  Flower stalks about 12" high.

Spring flowers

The dogwood finally popped out with its gorgeous white blossoms.  We thought it might have been hurt by the earlier freeze, but it made it.  The road to Rocky Mount is festooned with the pretty posies.  With the 80-90 temps the past couple of days, they won't be visible long, as the trees will be leafing out and blocking the view to them.

These creepy phlox have been just so-so the past couple of years, but they really did themselves proud this time.

Our redbuds are kinda puny and flowers are sparse when one is up close.  They present better from a distance.  The road to the dam is really nice this time of year, as there are lots of redbuds and several nice dogwoods.
I was going to burn off the leaves from CATHEDRAL cove this morn, but the wind came up FAST, so I will finish it some other day.

Water Sports

Eric & Ashley
These photos were taken in 2008.  I put them on because I couldn't get to my camera quick enough to capture the first water skiier of the year!!  Yep, April 9, 2011 with temps in mid 60's.  There were several fishing boats on the lake, so I thought someone was just screaming in to go to the back of Racoon Hollow Cove  -- but NOOOOOO!!  it was a wet suited tall skinny guy behind a zooming boat.  He was throwing up a rooster tail a "mile high"!!

Hope everyone has fun at the baby shower for Erin, today.
