Rachel Tumbling

The girl who is in the beginning is not Rachel. Wait a minute and watch her do a tumbling pass with some new "twists". She is now with a group called Twisters which practices near the BWI airport. It is quite a drive which they normally share with another girl who lives in Aberdeen. Eric had gone off for a run while I watched from the second story balcony. Remember the "crying baby" rooms in the back of churches?? This is similar for parents and friends who want to watch, but their gasps, groans and cheers can not be heard by the participants.

Longaberger Baskets near Zanesville OH

We were truly "basket cases" the afternoon we visited the huge factory and tourist stop. You really need more than a couple of hours to see it all. Lots of gift shops, too!! We didn't spend the time or money to make our own basket. They are pretty pricey!!

Sammi's First Day of School 2009-2010

Sammi has her new bookbag or whatever it is now called. It was "imported" from the Justice Store in the Factory Outlet in Osage Beach. All were sold out in Maryland area where they reside.

The Group

This was the main group that went to the fair.
Carrie (Rachel's friend), Rachel, Eric, Alec, Carol, Ron, Savana, Ava, Ashley, Kristi, Kelly, Sammi, and Lee. Gary, Pat, Kim, Shannon, and Ayden also went, but they were camera shy???!!!

Today is Tues, Aug 11 and Sara is a year older TODAY. It is a little far to be invited for cake and coffee!!

Must get to the roads, as the 2 inches of rain yesterday should make them easier to remove some of the humps, bumps and swales. ttfn

Fair Time in California, MO Thurs Aug 6, 2009

We went to the fair!! It was a gorgeous night and the kids rode every ride available. Ashley was surprised while holding a funnel cake. Ava, Sammi, Ayden in the front car and Alec and Ashley in the back car went round and round. The "family" was trying to figure out where to go next.
The demolition derby was noisy!!!
We started the day at Gary and Pat's about 4:15, then a quick trip to Kim and Shannon's, then to Sam and Ali's and finally the fair. Sam and Ali's house has high ceilings and wonderful woodwork. Almost all doors have transoms!! The front door is a work of art.
It is time for the old folks to be in bed at 11pm. The younguns will just have to find their way home "whenever"!! ttfn

TUBING or not tubing, that is the question??

Neighbor Cliff came to the rescue and took the teenagers tubing!! Yehhhhhhh!!! It was a warm grey Tuesday. Sammi had a bad ear and was not able to go along. Rats!!
Auction was a bummer. We did eat some good pies and food. Girls couldn't understand the auctioneers. They talked to fast. This from persons who text at 200 characters per milisecond!!.

Eric and Ayden: and Alec

Photos from Sis of Eric and Ayden. Also one of Alec.

AUGUST FIRST PARTY

Marno's celebration of life was highlighted by a party with lots of food and tall stories. She would have enjoyed it.
Larry, Ellen, Ava, giraffe, Alec and Shelby are in the first picture to the right.
New PT Cruiser, Patty, Garry, Shelby, Eric and Kristi are the far right.
Food was served first then lots of time in the water and a couple of very quick boat rides topped off the day. Still having electrical problems with the boat but hope to have those finished this afternoon.
Sara, everyone really enjoyed the webcam conversation. Uncle Gary was amazed!!

Marno Memorial Moment

Larry is reviewing one of Marno's religious books. Items of interest are to the right on the card table and the black rack. The lighthouse banner, the banks, the girl scout badges, diploma from Shawnee Mission North, diploma from Hayes Hairdressing, birthday cards generated by computer, birth and death certificates, a large photo album filled with her pictures, and her high school graduation photo in frame were all displayed on the black rack and table.. The angels were represented in the book selection.
Brother Larry delivered a truthful, touching eulogy which brought tears of rememberance. Thanks, Larry.
Her ashes were scattered near the cathedral as she wished.
