Ravens Game Sept 15, 2013

The popular way to walk to M&T Bank Stadium, home of the Baltimore Ravens.  We parked in a downtown parking garage and hoofed it over to the stadium fairly early, but the crowds were forming.

Flacco is "their" quarterback so this shot was a must!!

Posing with Johnny Unitas statue in front of stadium.  Sorry about the sideways pictures.  If you have a laptop, turn it.  If you have a tabletop, turn your head!!
Ravens won a fairly ugly, sloppy game but it was close at the end so very few fans left early, so the crowd leaving was gianormous!!  Thanks, Eric and Kelly for the chance to see a pro football game again.

Lunch at Kristi's Aug 21, 2013

Carol E, Ron, Jim, Carol A, Terry, Mary, Gary, Pat, Peg with Kristi as the camera person and the host for a sloppy joe luncheon.  Jim and Mary have a lavender farm in Iowa!  Yep, you read correctly, they raise lavender!!!!

They stayed in a condo behind the Harley Davidson store in Osage Beach and Terry and Jim had played some golf.  They found the rugged terrain a major challenge.  They know each other as their children married and brought the families together.

Ron had to leave early for a routine eye exam, but Carol E stayed long enough to just beat Ron home!!
Thanks, Kristi.  We really enjoyed the new arrangement of the house and the location of the fish tank.

OMP 2013

Ozark Mission Project (OMP), a church youth work project in southwest Arkansas, has been the "summer school" of Ellen and Larry for several years.
They now have a tool and equipment trailer to keep "stuff" together and allow for transport to the worksites.  This year most of the projects seemed to be wheelchair ramps.  In years past they have repaired roofs, cleaned yards and painted.
The center of activity this year was based in the Methodist Church
The students arrived and set up base camp at the church.
Orientation and expectations were necessary to ensure the "builds" were accomplished in a safe and timely manner.
Lumber was purchased wholesale from a local yard.  Ellen (in yellow) is and has been the heart of the operation for several summers.  Larry only provided this photo and I had to crop and enlarge to get it.
A typical wheelchair ramp build.  This gives a look at the "skeleton" of the build.
A view with some workers and the gentleman who needs the ramp.  His wife is leaning on the post to the upper left.  Some of the volunteers are hard at work.
Another completed ramp which only needed a straight shot to the door.

Visit by Bob and Pat Aug 2013

Bob, Carol and Pat on the porch at the Shawnee Bluff Winery (lake location).  Note the wine bottle behind Pat's left ear.  It pours water into the pool just below it.  The view of the lake is nice at this time of year but will be chilly during the fall and winter months.  We tasted and purchased.
The visit began VERY differently!!  Ron got a call while at ReStore about 10 am on Thurs from Bob who said they probably wouldn't make it to the lake as they had just had an auto accident about 10 miles west of Warrensburg on Hiway 50.  Short version-- a 73 year old man driving a pickup pulling a boat trailer pulled right in front of them.  He was attempting to turn back to the west and turned from the right hand lane of 50 Hiway headed eastbound across the left lane (where Bob was driving) and got hit in the drivers side door by the right front end of B&P's red 2009 Prius.  Pat suffered a neck strain (CT scan at Lee's Summit Hospital after a very uncomfortable ambulance ride) and bruises while Bob apparently escaped unscathed.  I said I would be there in two hours to help out.  I met Bob at Tip Top Tow in Warrensburg where their car was still on the tow truck.  We transfered stuff from the wreck to the back of the minivan and retrieved Pat from Lee Summit and drove to the lake.
Had a nice relaxed visit with visits to Shawnee Bluff and Seven Springs wineries.  Ron drove them back to KC on Sat afternoon.  They still have Pat's car for transportation and will be car shopping next week, as the car was totalled according to the insurance adjuster.  They have Travelers and the other driver has State Farm.  They had several phone calls from their insurance and have already been contacted by State Farm.  Don't envy them for the next couple of weeks.
We liked 7 Springs better than Shawnee Bluff even though the view is better at the Bluff.

Family on Vacation in Brasil

The group is jumping atop a mountain in southern Minas Gerias, Brasil.  Sara said it took a few tries to get them all off of the ground.

Drizzle Time

It has started to drizzle at 8:30am on this Friday morn, so no more rock work til it stops.
Thank you Kim for this lily Christmas present.  It started off so slow, I didn't think it would do anything, but it is nice now.  This shot was "doctored" by computer.

This is more true to life.  There are two more stalks with unopened blossoms, so we will be able to enjoy this for a week or two more.

Purple shamrock, computer enhanced

More true to life, but actually a little dull as the flash went off.  We have two smaller pots of this if someone wants one??

I really like the dark purple of these wave petunias.  They are winding down a little, but still are fun to view.

I didn't start any rose moss this year but did get a couple of volunteers.  Makes me think of Grandma Ella Blecke.  She usually had them lining the sidewalk to her house.
The basement is "calling" me to organize!!!  Yep, it is still dripping outside.
I wanted some shots of the 4 O'clocks that remind me of Mother Joy, but it was too early and they had not opened.  Maybe something later.  ttfn

Royals vs Orioles

Orioles beat Royals 9-2 on Monday night, BUT
Bob Schroeder and I saw a very good game last night.  The Royals won 3-2 and led most of the game.  They did manage to strand at least 10 base runners.  Yep, their hitting at key moments "needs work"!!!
Top of the 9th with 3-1 lead and Royals bring on their best closer.  First Oriole batter gets a single.  Next batter slashes a triple and a run scores.  Man on third with no outs!!!  Pitcher strikes out two and gets a ground out!!  WHEWWWWW!!!
We left happy.
Thanks Bob and Pat for the room and board.  Loved the scones.
I'm too cheap to buy a program, but I am a good recycler of paper products and found the program as we were leaving the game.  Neither Bob nor I took a camera so no personal pics.

Lutt Reunion July 2013

Mom, Grandma Joy, Greatgrandma Joy was the daughter of Otto Lutt who was one of 10 members of the John and Johanna family.  Mom had noted the age at death beside each person's name.
Name tags were picked up at the front of the Mike Lutt house.  They were color coded for each of the 10 children so attendees had a chance to figure out which branch of the tree each "leaf" belonged!!  At my age remembering which color was which was the problem.  I just asked!!

Donna Lutt, seated left, and ? Lutt, seated right at age 97, were the remaining spouses of children of the original 10.  Delores Lutt Wacker, who just died, would have been the only surviving child.

Donna and LaVonne looking at a photo album.  LaVonne and Connie drove in from northwest Wyoming.
Ron talking to Tom Mau.

Terry Lutt - think Les!!!
The three amigos or the three "C's"!!
Carol, Connie, & Connie!!

I think I counted about 130-140 in this photo.  Ron is wearing a blue/red shirt and is  4 or 5th in from the left on the 1st or 2nd row.  Bright green in front and bright orange behind.  Gary is beside Donna (seated about three rows back in middle).
Thanks, Sis & Kim, for the photos.
Thanks to Toots and Jeannie for the event.

4th of July 2013

The burgers were broiled by noon as all were starving.

Even the young'uns were quiet for a few minutes while everyone ate.

JP drove down and was always involved in a conversation

Relaxing before going to the "lake"

This guy doesn't like his picture taken.  Don't think he is Amish??

The male "seniors" of the family

Sam and Karyn were at Grandpa Lieblers, so they came over and WOWed Ayden and Ava.  Couldn't talk Alec into a ride.

Kim finally did get him into the water, but she really worked at it!!

Ava getting her turn

Lucylea is a great swimmer.  Just returned from Florida "surfing" trip.
It was a great afternoon, not too hot, but just a little hot: not too windy, but just a little windy: not too sunny, but just a little sunny.
Thanks everyone for a great day.
Sorry, John, I don't think I had a good picture of you.  Forgot to take one of myself and my patriotic shirt.  Watch for Kim's blog???
