Ok, so the statue in a small town in the state of Minas Gerias, Brasil has nothing to do with water, but I needed something to brighten up this missive. It is quite amazing to be riding in a bus from Montes Claros to Belo Horizonte and to look out the window and see this HUGE statue off to the side of a town that might have a two story building as its highest structure. This may be their attempt to "rival" Rio's famous statue??
So, why did I title this WATER!!??
Monday, after the power came back on after an hour and a half failure, we noticed the water pressure was LOW. Figured the breaker in Carlton's house (Gary and Pat's former home on second level) had tripped due to surge when electricity came back on. Spent next few hours trying to reach Carlton who has been in Howe,Texas for the last year working on his house. All the phone numbers from John, Ron Liebler and ours were defunct. Ron L finally found the name and phone number of the couple who watch the house for Carlton and they came over Monday evening and reset the breaker, so we could flush the johns and take showers. UNFORTUNATELY when I got up Tues morn, we again had no water pressure. I called and was able to borrow the key and get in and reset the breaker. Decided to call Attkison Well people who came out and determined that the electric line from well house to Carlton's had a dead short!! They couldn't believe the breaker had not tripped while they were there!! We rewired the well pump to the rental house supply line, which had always been available as it was the original power source for the well pump. When Gary and Pat put the house on the "hill"several years ago, they agreed to run power with the water line and share the well water. This gave them water without the cost of drilling a well.
We were able to have water in the house during this interuption by hooking hoses up to Cliff's house and running it to our outside hydrant. Didn't particularly like the light yellow color of the water, so only used it for flushing the johns. Carried some drinking water in pitchers to make coffee, etc.
As you proceed thru the day, reflect on how many times you wash your hands, rinse a dish, flush the john, turn on the dishwasher, take a shower or bath, water the flowers/plants, get a glass of water, make coffee, etc. It is really a pain in the behind to not have water on demand!! So today, give thanks to that simple fact that we are blessed to have drinkable water at our fingertips. Many in the world do not!! ttfn
