Fisher Lady and Lake Nessy

Someone has been swimming, snorkeling, hunting shells and rocks, and fishing.

The air temp was about 60 degrees Fahrenheit when we started but the water temp was just fine for the "fish". We did catch 3 little sunfish using worms we dug up from the compost heap.
The East Coast ladies have gone shopping at Osage Beach and will be back for sunning activities in the afternoon. Eric and I are headed for Lowes and to hook up with Vince who is checking out the solenoids which don't seem to be functioning correctly on Shannon and Kim's boat. Hope to get it running, but am always skeptical when it pertains to Ron and watercraft!!

East Coast Arrivals

The clan rolled in about 9:30pm on Thursday night.

Eric is waving and Carrie, a friend of Rachels is unraveling herself from the back seat. The p/u bed was full of stuff and the p/u was jammed with 5 bodies, pillows, electronic stuff, snacks and drinks!! They hit a couple of nasty downpours on the way, but other than being very crowded the trip went well.

We have already been to the dock, blown up many flotation devices and fished. Sammi talked Grandma Carol into a game of Candyland and Eric is checking his e-mails on his Blackberry.

TRIVIA NIGHT in California, MO

Last Saturday was busy for us. I worked at Waste Watchers in the morning. Then we drove to Kingdom City to meet Fritz and Judy who had been to a national Optimist meeting at the St Louis Airport. We had tea and ice cream at the McDonalds and talked for two to three hours. Then it was a quick trip back to California, MO where Pat and Gary had invited us to a Trivia Fund Raiser for the local theatre. There were over 100 people in attendance. The snacks and foods were GREAT. We didn't embarass ourselves, but we didn't win any tickets to the theatre which were given out as prizes. If you knew the history of Boonville you could have "cleaned up" on the Missouri History category!! I think our best showing was National Parks. The questions on the Bible should have made any impressionable young Bible school children run screaming from their churches!! Of course the"tables" with ministers scored high on these. It was FUN.

Cataract Number Two

Carol had the second eye operation on Tuesday and we spent the evening and next morning with Sally and Larry. They have two dogs, Jane and Donner. Jane is the wistful one in the photo.

Thanks again Larry & Sally for the wonderful chicken/pasta, the peaches & cream sweet corn, Greek salad, appetizers and ice cream!! You'all are wonderful hosts (esses). Carol said she slept like a "log" and I did too.

We made it to Carol's follow up visit on time and she no longer has the patch. We shopped a little at the Brass Armadillo and Dutch Bakery(Leonard says Hi!) on the way home and arrived about 5:30. Catching up on snail and e-mail.

Saw a lot of the sun from about 3pm on.

Bob and Gail from Orange, TX

Bob and Gail were our guests Sunday and Monday. They were setting up their camera to do a group picture. If they send me the group picture then this one will be deleted. Hint, hint!
We always enjoy their visits and hope to visit them later this year in Texas. Maybe when it's cold here and warm there??
Bob and Ron used to work together at Gulf Oil in Merriam. Bob got transferred to Texas and Ron to Pennsylvania in early 70's.

New Guy

Cute, Cute, Cute.

Patriotic Walkway to the House

Kristi is at the end of the sidewalk which is bordered by patriotic windmills placed by or suggested by Savana.
Lots of good food, horseshoes, washers, pool, fireworks, tetherball, and young children made for a festive day. The rain shower just after food was eaten did not put much of a damper on the day. We moved inside and talked, talked, talked and watched kids!!

New Goldfish Bowl

Here they are. Since we got rid of the tall trees we would normally bring back into the greenhouse in the winter, these guys should help fill the upper space. You are more than welcome to pet and help feed them when you visit.

Our new "Pets"

Just couldn't resist these goldfish when they came up for auction last Tuesday. They don't require much care and very little food.

Happy July 4th

Yes, I know that today is July 3, but someone started celebrating early last night at 11:30pm in our cove!! Not very considerate. Must be some of the new people who have moved in, as normally most of the noise stops by 10pm. Guess it could have been some "coving" idiots. I tried to call them "covers", but thought you might think I was putting a wet "blanket" on the evening!!

We will be attending a party tomorrow, July 4th, at Shelby and Kristi's. Have to get some veggies today for our contribution. Thought we would have some green peppers, but they seem to have stopped growing. Something is also attacking our patio tomato plant. I think it must be raccoons.

Light all your fireworks safely. Don't get any innocent bystanders!!
